Greetings from Kenya. My name is Richard Mungai. I have been writing for as long as I can remember which pushed me to study a degree in journalism at the University of Nairobi. I began a professional career in writing some five years ago after I landed a job at The Star, a national newspaper in my country. My specialisation is business writing, which was my designation at The Star. I quit The Star just recently to focus on freelancing, which as I have discovered, is quite profitable - well compared to earnings in the media industry which have been falling year in year out. Far from that, journalism is very engaging and it allows those in this field to meet lots of so many different people every new day. During my time at The Star, I met a lot of people, largely business leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers, journalists, editors, etcetera. I have landed several freelancing contracts from the people I have met along the way. All I can say is that it has been extremely satisfying working independently for my clients. I hope to expand my contact list to a global scale through Upwork and forge even stronger partnerships.
