Biographical Note
Once upon a time, back in the days of filofaxes and shoulder pads (1990, to be precise), there was a young writer. She worked for a UK business publishing company, writing and editing reams of Very Useful information on how to comply with rather fiddly health and safety law. She may have even saved a life or two with her special report on confined spaces. Who knows?
After five years of this noble work, she dusted off her backpack, bought some sandals, and buggered off around the world, with only a tent and a credit card to keep her out of trouble.
Somewhere along the way, she started a family. And for some strange reason, became the editor of Canadian community newspaper, The Kootenay Advertiser, for five months. She wrote features and news and generally had a good time, especially when she got a ride on a paraglider powered by a lawnmower.
Finally settling in New Zealand in 1998 and freelancing for three years, she got a proper job in business publishing. But with her children now able to turn the PlayStation on themselves, she's ready for a little moonlighting from her lifestyle block and chilli farm in North Canterbury.
Witty articles on anything tackled. And I can write advertising copy with my eyes shut (though I do spell check afterwards).
No job too small - I'll leave the big ones for those without day jobs.
Rate: My standard fee is 20 cents per word, negotiable.
Published Writings
1997: Numerous articles and a weekly 2-page feature articles for The Kootenay Advertiser.
1999-2000: I wrote various articles for Woman Today, The Northern Outlook, the Bay Harbour News, and the Builder and Renovator.
1990-present: Countless news items, articles, guides, and books in the area of compliance with business law (although I'm not currently offering my freelance services in this area).
