Biographical Note

With a BA in English and Psychology, Russell has 22 years of editing, writing and proofreading experience in a variety of situations, including copy editing five books. From 2004 he has subedited bc magazine in Hong Kong over the internet and before that spent three years at Wickliffe Design in Auckland as proofreader/copy editor. Prior to working for Wickliffe, he travelled in India for two years. 

Before visiting India, he worked as a freelance designer/editor/writer, primarily designing New Zealand Musician magazine and also writing and presenting a monthly radio programme on New Zealand's Concert FM. He worked as the editor of Preview, a lifestyle magazine that focused on film and video, before branching out into freelancing. The position at Preview developed out of his work as a journalist for another magazine, Tempo. Previous to that, he was writer and production manager for the film and video magazine Videoscreen. Russell is also a qualified secondary school teacher in English and Maths with 10 years' teaching experience and has been a professional actor as well. He is a committed Buddhist and lives by that religion's principles. While primarily interested in editing, rewriting and proofreading, Russell also offers his writing skills, subject to the constraints of his Buddhist lifestyle.
