Biographical Note
Rebecca is an experienced technical and business writer whose commitment to her clients, ability to write clearly, and deliver on schedule ensures constant repeat business. She is a member of TCANZ, the Technical Communicators Association of New Zealand.
Technical and scientific projects typically include planning, writing, and testing installation, user and service manuals, online help systems, and technical specifications and procedures. Rebecca also edits and formats technical and scientific reports.
Business projects typically include structuring and writing tender response documents- including executive summaries and CV preparation - and reviewing the completed tender response documents against the original requirements. These projects are frequently done to a very tight timescale, requiring good organisation, detailed analysis, and great attention to detail.
After completing an Honours degree in Environmental Science at London University, Rebecca joined a large international IT company. She planned and wrote numerous manuals for a variety of software applications. The manuals were written for an international audience and Rebecca managed the complex translation process for up to 15 countries. As a senior writer, she also helped to recruit and train new writers. She then moved into technical Product Management and spent about four years managing software development projects. These often involved co-ordinating teams spread across several countries.
After moving to New Zealand, Rebecca completed a Graduate Diploma of Science in Geology at Auckland University then returned to writing on a freelance basis in 2001. Since then, she has worked for a wide variety of businesses in the engineering, manufacturing, scientific, and financial sectors, as well as some government organisations. Rebecca can work independently or as part of a team, depending on the scale of the project.
With her corporate knowledge, background in science and IT, and considerable experience as a technical and business writer, Rebecca is able to offer a quality writing and editing service in any of these areas.
