Biographical Note
Penelope's specialist knowledge is in computer software, and she has been writing intelligible guides for users ever since she discovered the "Abort, Retry, Cancel?" system error message back in the early 1980s. At that time she also started designing user interfaces according to the Apple Human Interface Guidelines.
Since then she has been working as a software developer and systems integrator and documenting everything she learns on the way.
In her spare time, she has been a compulsive writer of articles and reviews, as well as a highly provocative book of essays called "Why Women are Stupid", coming out this autumn. Examples of her acerbic wit can be found on the book's website: www.whywomenarestupid.com.
In 2006 she started her own company, Hacks R Us, which reflects the dual nature of her work: computers and writing.
