Biographical Note
I have a master’s degree in media communications. My experience includes 14 years as a freelance writer, editor, copy editor and proofreader; four years on staff at a publishing company; and eight years of teaching.
I write and edit magazine features and newspaper articles on a range of topics including health care, business, the meeting industry, technology, and education. I have analyzed survey data to produce articles that include tables, graphs and charts, as well as written analysis. I have also written case studies, profiles and destination features.
In addition to copyediting books, I have copyedited online course materials for the University of Texas. I am a freelance copy editor for Burton Group, which publishes technology advisory reports on network architecture, application platforms, and security strategies. I also copyedit and proofread magazines, newsletters and a range of corporate reports and materials.
As Co-Managing Editor of two college textbooks (Convention Industry Council Manual 7th Edition and Professional Meeting Management 4th Edition), I worked with another editor to deliver these large-scale publishing projects on schedule and within budget. Both books were managed as turnkey projects from content development and chapter assignments (to dozens of industry experts) through manuscript review and revision of previous editions; writing new content; editing for accuracy, completeness, and consistency; and proofreading the layout.
I was Associate Editorial Director at a convention publishing company for four years. The company produced daily newspapers at medical, professional and corporate meetings. I edited the work of staff, clients and freelancers; wrote articles; developed an editorial style manual, including style guidelines for each client; trained editors; and wrote an editorial training manual.
