Biographical Note
There are lots of very professional, very competent writers listed on this web site, and I'm all of that, but I'm also different, the way that creative (read "gay") writers - poets, lyricists, authors, are different from journalists and straight ones.

Let me email you a few of my reviews and feature articles and you'll see wit and style allied with substance. That's because I have an education (Masters in English, gained in my 50's), but spent some of my earlier working life as a mixed up male who had natural talent, but minimal self belief; hence I took an unusual path, learning some useful lessons along the way.

Enough of that. My posters and brochures written for the New Zealand Department of Health broke new ground as far as creativity was concerned, a talent I also used as Publicity Officer for the Manawatu-Wanganui Area Health Board, During a 30 year career as copywriter I wrote 400 live TV commercials for Sanitarium (Weetbix, Marmite, etc.), copy for Air New Zealand, Volkswagen, Caltex, Dunlop, the National Bank, Lion Beer, and lots more glamour clients. As a freelancer I've written copy for radio stations, universities (Massey University MBA), recruitment ads, newsletters and trade magazines. Bread and butter stuff but nevertheless welcome. I also write music, and in my advertising days, composed many jingles and songs by passing on a melody and lyrics to professional musicians, some of whom claimed them as their own. Since then I've learned to write, play and transcribe my own and am currently studying towards a music degree at the University of Otago.

If I were younger and mobile, I'd walk into a $100,000 a year job with a Sydney or Auckland agency. You can have me for a song!
