Writing Biography:

Hilary Pedersen BA History (Soc Sci)

I am an established Hawke’s Bay journalist of over 20 years experience and with a particular interest in the fields mentioned above.

Currently contracted to Tararua District Council as part time media officer.
Have contracted work to Hastings Marketing and PR company Attn! and to the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, for an exhibition entitled Smartworks:Design and the Handmade.

In collaboration with Marina Sciasacia I have produced the successful “Hakui Mothers of Porangahau”; we are currently working on a companion volume entitled “Tuahine Sisters Of Porangahau”.


Personal Biography:

I am a rural coastal resident, widely travelled (including recently to Mongolia and the Antarctic Peninsular), and have very good communication skills.

Major interests encompass people and their stories, race relations, politics, religion, and tourism. I also operate Purple Fish Accommodation business and am a feltmaker with my own studio.
