JobDetails: Small website (http://grubstreet.ca) seeks writer for a longer posting about a significant Canadian contributor to the Big Band Jazz era, of the late 1930s and 1940s.

The subject is an interesting woman. She's wrote number one pop songs and won a Grammy. Her life and career are fairly-well documented, but scattered; materials need to be brought together.

You'll talk to her son, who'll provide hitherto unpublished input and help organize the posting. (We'll pay phone charges, on top of writing fee.)

Familiarity, with the Big Band Jazz era is preferred, but you can learn what's necessary as you go along. Still, if you're more than aware of the era, if you understand the era and know of the major players, the project is straight forward; research and write.

You must write, with verve and passion, and be generally familiar with AP style. We enforce one idea per sentence, average sentence length of about 15 words and three sentences per graph. The posting must be readable, and at about the level of the New York “Times.”

Assignment may interest an aficionado of the music and the era, who grew up in Canada, USA or UK. If you have special knowledge of the Big Band Jazz era, we’ll to help you write the posting.

Note: we can't afford to pay top of the range, for this piece, but are open to negotiate and will pick the bidder who best balances skill and ability with bid. Please send bids to publisher@grubstreet.ca, with RL Project in subject line.
