Biographical Note
I am a professional writer with a passion for readable prose. I earn my living as a freelancer, have no trouble meeting deadlines and am accustomed to working by email and telephone, often for overseas clients. I was a journalist with the Nelson Mail and have written occasional pieces for many other newspapers and magazines including The Press, Education Review, Boating NZ, NZ Deerfarmer and NZ Study Opportunities. Other writing credits include 18 episodes of the TV drama series Shortland Street, a radio documentary and a large number of oral history interviews.
I have written and published three novels and a series of local histories, and have completed books on contract for private clients and companies including Kiwi Dairy Group and the NZ Marine Farming Association. I have an MA in English Literature and some familiarity with Te Reo Maori. I am a competent and experienced indexer with a particular interest in indexing local history.
My approach is simple and straightforward. I try to understand my clients' needs and meet them, and to work out who my readers will be and write for them. I enjoy history and biography and I am comfortable working as a ghostwriter. I am happy to discuss large or small projects and I am flexible in my approach.
